Regardless of a person’s past athletic experience or current level of fitness, everyone who first comes to Lafayette CrossFit Confederation is provided with the opportunity to learn about basic techniques and terminology before participating in regular classes. These are our On-Ramp classes.
On-Ramp classes are kept to very small sizes to ensure one-on-one attention. As you work through the sessions you and your fellow newcomers will learn about the correct form for basic, functional CrossFit movements, and slowly work up to increase your level of intensity. On-Ramp is the perfect place to ask questions and make some new friends before transitioning into our regular classes. Attendance and participation is mandatory, and we will work with your schedule.
This program is specifically designed for individuals who want the constantly varied, high-intensity aspects of CrossFit without the heavy lifting. This program focuses on all ten components of optimal physical fitness: endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. If you find the thought of regular CrossFit classes intimidating, CFC’s CrossFit Unloaded is a great way to get into shape using basic bodyweight movements, plyometrics, running, rowing, jump ropes, kettlebells, dumbbells, and medicine balls.
What can I expect during class?
The class will focus on core stability, aerobic conditioning, anaerobic conditioning, and strength training. All of our classes are built on the CrossFit principles of training; a method that maximizes potential regardless of fitness level, and keeps exercise fun and exciting! Our instructors will be there to teach, ensure safety, motivate, and encourage as you gain strength, burn calories, increase self-esteem, and form new friendships.
Do I need to take the Foundation course first?
No. CrossFit Unloaded is a great introduction to the CrossFit methodology, and you may start right away. The coach will teach you everything that you need to know for each workout before the workout of the day (WOD).
Why should I choose CrossFit Unloaded?
CrossFit Confederation’s programming is built around a framework of strength movements, and Olympic lifts. While we believe that proficiency in these movements is an important part of your athletic development, we understand that not everyone shares our passion for barbell lifting. That is where CrossFit Unloaded comes in. These challenging, high-intensity workouts will keep you moving utilizing a variety of bodyweight movements, and lighter weights. It is still CrossFit, but we have “Unloaded” the barbells.
Who is CrossFit Unloaded for?
Just like our main classes CrossFit Unloaded is for everyone, and can be scaled to any and all fitness levels. These classes are especially for:
- Beginners who are interesting in our CrossFit program but want to build up some conditioning, and basic strength first.
- Those that are tired of the globo gyms and want the variety and intensity of CrossFit without the heavy or technical lifts.
- CrossFit athletes who need a break from barbell lifting.
- CrossFit athletes coming back after taking time off.
- Individuals who have an injury that prevents them from lifting heavy weight but still want to get in shape.
Can I jump right into the main group CrossFit workouts (WODs) after taking Unloaded classes?
No. You will need to learn the technical lifts that are taught in the Foundation program.
